Our Story

In early 2016, we set out on a mission to find an affordable solution for purchasing fine jewelry. Despite searching extensively, we couldn’t find anything that met our needs. Bangkok, Thailand, is home to countless luxury jewelry brands, but buying even a small trinket often costs the equivalent of a month’s rent. On the other hand, the alternative was settling for “junk” costume jewelry made with cubic zirconia or glass-filled stones, which may look great for a few months but quickly lose their luster and value.

Every time we visited a jeweler in one of Bangkok’s upscale malls, we were left disappointed. The prices were unreasonably high, especially considering the quality of the jewelry being offered. All we wanted was a beautiful 1-2 carat diamond pendant, but nothing matched our expectations in terms of quality or price. That’s when we realized the need for a better, more accessible solution—and so, our journey began.

“We knew we had to look elsewhere to find a better solution.”

After weeks of research, we discovered Moissanite—a gemstone that initially left us skeptical. We weren’t sure how it would be perceived if we chose Moissanite instead of a traditional diamond. But as we delved deeper, we learned that Moissanite is widely embraced in the United States, especially by millennials, who appreciate its beauty, durability, and affordability.

In the summer of 2016, we traveled to the U.S. to see this remarkable gemstone firsthand. While Moissanite was available in Bangkok, Thailand, many sellers were offering counterfeit versions marketed as “fake Moissanite.” We wanted to experience the authentic gemstone, so our journey began.

Through our research, we discovered that Moissanite ranks 9.25 out of 10 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, making it one of the hardest gemstones available—just behind diamonds. Its crystallization and clarity often rival, or even surpass, that of diamonds. And here’s the most fascinating part: when tested with a diamond tester, genuine Moissanite will register as a diamond. Unfortunately, in Bangkok, many suppliers were trying to pass off Cubic Zirconia as Moissanite, which only reinforced the importance of verifying authenticity.

"Always test Moissanite with a diamond tester to ensure it’s the real deal."

Once we arrived in the U.S., we found this hidden gem in one of LA’s bustling streets. Inspired by the challenges we faced in Thailand—overpriced jewelry and inconsistent quality—we decided to start our own company. In 2016, RIVASOM Co., Ltd., the parent company of RIVA Moissanite, was born. Our mission was simple: to provide individuals in Bangkok with high-quality, affordable fine jewelry and eliminate the struggles we encountered.

In 2019, we opened our office on Sukhumvit Soi 40. Today, we’re proud to be one of Bangkok’s largest Moissanite distributors. All our loose Moissanite is of the highest quality, and every jewelry piece is handcrafted using only genuine gold (9K-22K) or 925 silver. At RIVA Moissanite, we’re committed to helping you shine with confidence and elegance.
